Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NextDoorly Inc. ("NextDoorly," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform, including hourly space bookings, Roomies, and AFH Property Listings (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: name, email, phone, and profile details you provide.
• Verification data: government ID, a selfie image, and (where relevant) licensing or certification documents, used to verify identity and eligibility.
• Listing & booking data: listings, bookings, messages, and reviews.
• Payment data: handled by our payment processor (Square). We do not store full card numbers.
• Usage & device data: log data, cookies, and similar technologies.
• Background check data: where you request or are subject to a background check, SearchBug, Inc. — our third-party background check provider — furnishes a consumer report to us, subject to the disclosures in our Terms of Service and SearchBug's own privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the Services.
• To verify identity, prevent fraud, and keep the community safe.
• To process bookings, payments, and host payouts.
• To communicate with you about your account, bookings, and support requests.
• To send marketing communications, where permitted; you may opt out at any time via the link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

3. How We Share Information

We share information with other users only as needed to facilitate bookings and connections (for example, a host sees a guest's verification status). We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf, including:

• Square, for payment processing.
• Our hosting and database provider, for storing platform data.
• SearchBug, Inc., for background checks, where you request or are subject to that feature.
• Our identity-verification vendor, where you use that feature.

We do not sell your personal information. Where we disclose personal information to service providers for a business purpose, we do so under contracts that restrict their use of it.

4. Identity Verification & Biometric Data

Verification documents, including government ID and selfie images, are stored securely and access is restricted to personnel and systems that need it for verification and fraud-prevention purposes. Where a selfie is used for facial matching, this may constitute biometric identifier data under applicable state law (for example, Illinois, Texas, or Washington biometric privacy statutes).

• We collect biometric identifiers only to verify your identity for account and safety purposes.
• We do not sell, lease, or trade biometric data.
• We retain biometric identifiers only as long as needed for the purpose collected, or as required by law, and delete them thereafter using reasonable measures.
• Where required by law, we will obtain your prior written consent before collecting biometric identifiers.

5. Sensitive & Health-Related Information

AFH Property Listings on NextDoorly are limited to vacant, unoccupied properties marketed to prospective operators. NextDoorly does not knowingly collect clinical, medical, or care-recipient health information through the AFH Property Listings feature.

• If you voluntarily include health-related information in a message, listing, or review (for example, describing a property's suitability for a specific type of care), that information may be processed as "consumer health data" under the Washington My Health My Data Act or similar state laws.
• We do not use precise geolocation to track your visits to health-related facilities, and we do not use consumer health data for targeted advertising.
• You may request deletion of any health-related information you have shared by contacting support@nextdoorly.us; we will respond within 45 days, with one 45-day extension where permitted by law and we notify you of the delay.
• We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not permit third parties to access it except as needed to provide the Services.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

• Essential: keeping you logged in, securing your session, and enabling core booking and listing functionality. These cannot be disabled without affecting the Services.
• Analytics: understanding how the Services are used so we can improve them.
• Advertising: only where you have given consent, used to measure and deliver relevant marketing.

You can manage non-essential cookies through your browser settings or any in-product cookie controls we provide. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using parts of the Services.

7. Data Retention

• Account and profile data: retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal, tax, and dispute-resolution obligations.
• Verification documents and biometric data: retained only as long as needed to complete verification, or as required by law, then deleted.
• Booking and payment records: retained as required for tax, accounting, and legal compliance, typically up to 7 years.
• Background check reports: retained per the retention schedule disclosed by SearchBug at the time of the check, consistent with FCRA and state requirements.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Regardless of your state of residence, you may exercise the following rights by contacting us at support@nextdoorly.us:

• Right to access the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
• Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (NextDoorly does not sell personal information) and of targeted advertising.
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

What we mean by "sale" and "sharing." We do not exchange your personal information for money. "Sharing," as used in some state privacy laws, generally refers to disclosing information for cross-context behavioral advertising. NextDoorly only shares information for advertising purposes where you have given consent, as described in Section 6.

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have additional rights under their state's law. We will honor valid requests consistent with applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days of receipt, with one additional 45-day extension where permitted by law and we notify you of the delay and the reason for it.

9. Automated Decision-Making

NextDoorly uses automated features to support identity verification and to surface potential matches or listings. These features assist rather than replace human judgment: they do not make final decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you (for example, they do not automatically deny you access to the Services). If we materially change how automated features are used in a way that produces legal or similarly significant effects, we will update this Policy and provide any notice or opt-out required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to, and are not intended for use by, anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it.

11. Security

We use technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit and restricted access controls, to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information against unauthorized access. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Material changes affecting your rights will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Services.
